Benson Hunt Technologies is a proudly Canadian managed IT services and cybersecurity company. Our local team in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary comes to your clinic or office. We help dental, legal, accounting and manufacturing teams in all three cities. We lead with on-site visits, and many smaller issues are fixed quickly by remote access. We go and see the technology first

Tony takes the photos you see on this site. Many of them come from trips to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Ho Chi Minh City, where we look at new technology in person, talk to the people who build it and try it with our own hands. Then we bring back what works for our clients in Canada.

Close to home: Grain of Rice

Grain of Rice is a restaurant in Edmonton. We did a one-off tech consult for them, from bare walls to opening day: the digital menu, online ordering, the kitchen printer, VoIP phones and the other connected devices a busy restaurant runs on.

Passion Dental Group: two clinic expansions

Passion Dental Group owns several individual dental clinics. We’ve helped expand two of them: one from 8 to 15 operatories, and one from 5 to 11. The drawing shown is an example from a clinic expansion we completed, with identifying details removed. We work at the blueprint level. While a clinic, office or plant is still on paper, we go through the power, equipment and millwork drawings with the contractor and designer, so the network, the server rack and every connected device has a place before the walls go up. That is how a project lands on time and on budget.

We also do structured cabling. And we are not afraid of jobs big or small, from a single room to a four-site build-out.

I got into computers early, playing PC games. As a gamer I needed accuracy, reliability and speed, and I brought those same ideas to business technology. I also got tired of gamers who hacked to win, so now I protect businesses from hackers.

I am an entrepreneur at heart and I’m involved in a few technology projects. Through our network I get to see tools that help in tough situations like fire damage, floods and ransomware.

Outside work, I co-founded a restaurant in Edmonton that I co-manage with my sister, and I co-manage an autobody shop. I use secure technology to keep an eye on what is going on in both.

I am a NAIT graduate, and my work is built on ITIL best practices. I’m the person behind the scenes. On a regular Tuesday I work with Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, SharePoint, Lotus Domino, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, SAN directors, IBM DS8870, HPE 3PAR and Nimble, Veeam, security vulnerability patching, LANDESK, HEAT, Ivanti, ArcServe, Riverbed and more.

I am a hockey fanatic and I play goalie.

I am a reader. Give me the documentation and I will make sense of it. I graduated from MacEwan University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. With over 10 years of experience, debugging and improving the user experience is my part in the Internet of Things.

My tech stack includes Microsoft Azure, Object Pascal, Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C#, C++, Python and SQL. I work with SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle databases.

I am a retired lawyer and a general business advisor to Benson Hunt Technologies. I also partner with a sister company, Benson Hunt Smart Buildings, whose expertise is the physical security of commercial and multi-residential buildings.

I mostly raise bees and travel the world. My last trip was with Tony to Hong Kong, to take a deeper look at cybersecurity and building security.

I have worked with Benson Hunt Technologies since 2016. I’m part of the Telecommunications Industry Association and the Canadian Standards Association (TIA and CSA), and I’m trained in First Aid, WHMIS, H2S, elevated work and fall protection.

Coaxial, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7, fibre and SFP are my thing. Cabling is an art to me, and I like a data rack that is organized and not cut up by zip ties. Velcro is the answer.

I have worked with Benson Hunt Technologies for 5 years. Together we have used tools including MouthWatch, Daryou, Dexis, Apex and more.

I graduated as a dental hygienist in 2011, in an office that used film radiography and paper charts. Over the years I learned from mentors across many dental specialties. Working with Benson Hunt on up to date digital systems for radiography, photography, scanners and note templates is when my workflow really clicked.

I am also a mother, a lover of candid photography and a hopeful future dachshund owner.

How we keep you protected

Our security stack is Cisco Meraki, DNS security from Cisco (or an equivalent service if price is a concern, since we’re technology agnostic) and Huntress. We provide 24/7 monitoring with email and SMS alerts to our team. Huntress, a separate security team, works alongside us. We also use a proven 3-2-1 backup plan: 3 copies, on 2 different types of storage, with 1 kept offsite.
