What is IT support for a law firm?
Law firm IT support keeps your computers, servers, network, backups, security and legal software working, so lawyers can reach client files when they need them. We support Worldox and Unity Accounting (formerly esiLaw) by Dye & Durham, and work alongside Clio, PCLaw, LEAP and more.

Alongside an in-house team. Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP, an Edmonton law firm, works with us alongside its in-house IT on a Citrix environment upgrade.
After a ransomware attack. A Vancouver law firm was hit by ransomware. We reviewed their IT and recovered some files. Some were still lost.

Legal IT questions we hear
What does legal IT support include?
Your computers, servers, network, backups and security, plus the IT side of your legal and document software. We work with your software vendors. Every firm also gets its own group chat with dedicated technicians, so your whole team can reach us in one place. We support WhatsApp, Slack, Google Chat and Microsoft Teams. It’s for IT help, so keep privileged client details out of the chat. Ask us for an assessment and we will spell out what is included for your firm.
Which legal software do you work with?
We support Worldox and Unity Accounting (formerly esiLaw) by Dye & Durham. We also work alongside Clio, PCLaw, LEAP, Amicus Attorney, NetDocuments, iManage and others, looking after the IT around them: servers, network, computers, backups and security. If you run Worldox, plan ahead: NetDocuments owns it, and its on-premises version is reported to reach end of life on December 31, 2026 (LexWorkplace, updated August 2026). Confirm the date with NetDocuments, and we can help you plan the move. More on document software
How much does IT support cost for a law firm?
$55 to $110 per PC per month, at a fixed price, so your costs are easy to plan. Projects, such as a new server or an office move, are quoted separately before any work starts. One example, from an accounting firm rather than a law firm: a firm of about 75 people saved $33,000 a year on email after moving their IT to us.
Isn’t switching IT providers a headache?
We handle the handover with your current provider, so you are not stuck in the middle. Depending on the size of the firm, the transition takes from 5 business days to 6 months.
Who at Benson Hunt can see our client files?
Our staff have background checks and sign confidentiality agreements, because your files hold confidential client information. Data loss prevention (DLP) is available when your firm needs it.
