What does an hour of downtime cost an Edmonton plant?

Multiply the people who stop by their hourly cost and the hours down, then add late orders, overtime to catch up and anything scrapped. As an example only, 20 people at $40 an hour, down for 4 hours, is $3,200 in wages. That is why we build for restores measured in hours.

How do you keep plant machines safe from office network problems?

We put PLCs and HMI touchscreens on their own network segments, called VLANs, away from office computers and guest devices. A firewall decides what may cross between them. We also back up HMI and PLC software where the equipment allows it, so a wiped panel can be put back quickly.
